BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 14, 2022

The XXIII Central American Masters Athletics Championships was held in San José Costa Rica from 3rd – 6th November, 2022. A total of 695 Master Athletes registered for the events, and 21 countries participated. The Belize delegation was made up of 5 Master Athletes from BAMA (Belize Association of Master Athletics).

Despite the threat of Hurricane Lisa, the determined team made it to San Jose, Costa Rica and returned to Belize with a total of 13 medals – 5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze. Below are the individual athletes and their achievements.

Fred Evans, M78 – Gold in Discus, Javelin and Shotput.

Daland Jones, M65 – Silver in Discus & Shotput, and Bronze in Javelin.

Lawrence Craig, M60 – Gold in High Jump & Shotput, and Bronze in Triple Jump.

Cuthbert Burrell, M50 – Silver in Long Jump.

Leopold Lamb, M45 – Bronze in Discus, Javelin and Shotput.

Our aim is to have a larger delegation of Master Athletes from Belize to compete in the 2023 Central American Masters Athletics Championship.
