Khaya Gordon recorded what may prove to be a breakout match for her last week Tuesday, September 19, when her Navarro College Bulldogs team defeated host Blinn College (26-2, ranked 9th nationally), a conference rival, 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 29-27, 15-11).

Khaya had 17 kills from 30 tries through the 5 sets and is now 10th overall in the country in attacking percentage. She is a freshman who has been seeing limited time despite starting, but is often substituted for in certain defensive situations.

Khaya is credited with scoring 132.0 points in 21 matches, with 125 kills from 263 attacks, a .357 attack percentage playing in 56 sets.

On Saturday, September 23, at home on their Corsicana campus, the Bulldogs hosted and defeated Dallas College Cedar Valley, 3-0 (25-6, 25-3, 25-8).

The Bulldogs are currently 3rd in the 2023 NJCAA DI Volleyball Rankings (Week Five), a national coaches’ poll, with a 21-1 record overall, and are 7-0 in the Region XIV Athletic Conference.

They close out their September schedule on the road, against Lee College on Tuesday, September 26, and rematches against Hill College on Thursday, September 28, and conference rival Panola College on Saturday, September 30.
