Belmopan man shot when he objected to drug sale in his yard

GeneralBelmopan man shot when he objected to drug sale in his yard

BELMOPAN, Tues. Aug. 20, 2019– Brian Chavarria, 44, a mechanic of Sinsonte Street, is presently fighting for his life at the Western Regional Hospital with gunshot wounds to his body after he was shot multiple times by an associate of his, with whom he had been drinking in his garage.

Chavarria had apparently objected to the sale of drugs in his yard. According to reports, Chavarria and five other men were drinking in his yard in his garage on Sinsonte Street when he saw drugs being sold by one of the men to another man.

Chavarria quickly began to voice his displeasure, and one of the men walked out of the yard, but came back shortly after, armed with a pistol, which he fired at Chavarria.

Witnesses who saw what happened told police that the gun jammed, preventing the man from further shooting Chavarria, and he ran out of the yard.

Chavarria managed to make his way across to his neighbor, who called police, who quickly took him to the Western Regional Hospital, where he is now declared to be in a critical but stable condition.

Police said that they are looking for Chavarria’s associate, who was drinking with him and who is known to them.

Chavarria’s friend, Marisa Alamilla, said that he is desperately in need of O Positive blood, and members of the public who want to donate blood to him can make arrangements at the blood bank at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital compound in Belize City, or at the Western Regional Hospital.
