We would soon find out. BOCA came out with a take-no-prisoners? kind of attitude but Seahawks were just as willing to make a statement playing air ball over the shorter BOCA players. Even though BOCA has shorter players, they succeeded in beating the Seahawks at their own game in the air-ball challenge. About 20 to 30 minutes into the game, both Christopher Hendricks and Oliver ?Lionheart? Hendricks squandered scoring opportunities for San Pedro to climb onto the scoreboard first. San Pedro?s Griga connection of Elroy ?Bibb? Kuylen and Kareem Haylock were not in the groove tonight. At times they seem unable to put simple passes together. Haylock appeared to run out of gas early and ?Bibb? Kuylen didn?t really get into the game until late. Veteran midfielder John Ishmael Trapp did play a marvelous game for the Seahawks, but he couldn?t get the win alone. Then late in the first half Seahawks lost their striker Christopher Hendricks for the rest of the game with an ankle injury. In the second half, with Chris Hendricks gone and the Seahawk offense slowing down, BOCA turned up the heat, attacking with nine. In addition to that, Haylock and Kuylen were still playing tentative football and the usual aggressiveness of Oliver ?Lionheart? Hendricks was missing, which created more problems for the Seahawk middle. With Kuylen, ?Lionheart? and Haylock not having a good night, San Pedro retreated into a defensive posture after Chris Hendricks left the game, appearing to play for a draw on the road. BOCA?s persistency with the eight-to nine-man offensive attacks paid off in the 74th minute when Henry Jimenez drifted up the right flank. Jimenez centered a pass deep inside the eighteen to Wilmer Garcia. Garcia elevated above the defenders to place a beautiful header past a stunned Charlie Slusher, who had been saving almost every ball that came his direction. With the 1-nil loss, San Pedro will now have to win by a two-goal margin when they host BOCA at San Pedro this Sunday, January 15 to qualify to the championship round. The last time BOCA visited the Island, November 20, 2005, they were able to leave with a 1-1 tie. A one-goal margin for San Pedro would mean overtime, and then penalty kicks. There has to be a winner who will reach the finals against New Site Erei or FC Belize.
