Brother stabs brother over tennis shoes

CrimeBrother stabs brother over tennis shoes

BELIZE CITY, Sun. Sept. 30, 2012

A young man, 19, of Ladyville, is fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was stabbed in his chest by his younger brother, a minor, in their home on Perez Avenue in Ladyville around 7:15 a.m. on Friday, September 28

An elder brother, Maxwell Bainton, told Ladyville police that his brothers, Elias Bainton and the minor, were arguing over a pair of tennis shoes that Elias had worn. The minor got angry and took out a knife and stabbed Elias in his chest, almost piercing his heart.

Maxwell said that his brothers were fussing with each other, and he couldn’t really do anything because he had his baby in his arms.

He said that the doctor said that they had to put him in a coma, but that he has a chance of survival.

The boy who stabbed his older brother was sitting in the yard when police arrived. Police found the weapon, a four-inch blade knife, in an adjacent yard.

Police have detained the minor pending the conclusion of their investigations.
