Subject: Mr. Tom Knox – letter
Editor AMANDALA
Dear Editor,
In response to the letter that was placed in Amandala and other newspapers, I would just like to clarify that Mr. Knox?s statements are all a lie and have no validation whatsoever. It is very easy to prove what I have done, am doing and will do for and with the people of Belize.
As a Canadian I have been an observer and admirer of Belize for many years (over 15). I HAVE THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE OF BELIZE AND I AM GRAVELY INSULTED THAT A FOREIGNER COULD TRY TO CAUSE THIS KIND OF UPHEAVAL IN A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY LIKE BELIZE.
After such a long wait to get to Belize, I certainly would not have arrived with the attitude that Mr. Knox claims I have. Placencia is where I will be owning a home (unlike Mr. Knox) long after my project is completed. I could live anywhere in this world, but I have chosen Belize and refer to it as my second home. I am a homeowner here and provide work to Belizeans ? again, unlike Mr. Knox.
Mr. Knox has a narrow-minded opinion and fabrication of what is really happening next door to him. This will be my only response, because I see no reason to give [anything else to] one individual – a narrow-minded individual who tells untruths and has an ignorant opinion that he should keep to himself. There are many people involved in this project, and know the truth about meetings and feelings and where my heart lies.
From the very beginning, I have attempted to have everything go through my lawyer and other legal channels when it comes to Tom Knox. Legal action has already taken place and will continue.
Yours truly
(Ed. NOTE: The letter writer has asked us to withhold her name, because it was not mentioned in Mr. Knox?s letter. We have been told, however, that the situation in Placencia may not be as Mr. Knox has described it. Amandala intends to send a reporter to the area to investigate the matter.)
