The Elections and Boundaries
Commission has announced via a press
release issued on Thursday, June 9, that
PUP senator, Collet Montejo, has been
appointed as a member of the
Redistricting Task Force.
The task of Montejo is to supervise
all the fieldwork for the gathering and
provision of all information that is to
be considered by the task force
regarding the physical layout of each
electoral division, the various facilities
within those divisions and the level of
accessibility to transport within each
constituency, as well as the distribution
of the population across those
constituencies throughout the country.
The task force is responsible for
making recommendations to the
Elections and Boundaries Commission
as it proceeds with a redistricting
exercise.
The Commission says that it
continues to place a high priority on
this critical exercise, which is expected
to be completed in 2023.
