A road traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, March 10, on the San Narciso/San Victor road in the Corozal District has claimed the life of a motorcyclist identified as Gilberto Carias, 52, of San Victor.

An initial police investigation revealed that Carias was en route to his San Victor home when his motorbike collided with a Chevy Tracker driven by Robert Teck, 47, also a resident of San Victor.

Reports suggested that both Carias and Teck were under the influence of alcohol.

Carias received severe head injuries and died instantly at the scene, and his body was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital, where it will undergo a postmortem examination. Teck was detained and taken to Corozal Town.

Carias had been residing in San Victor for the past 2 years.
