Cummins, said the report, suddenly approached the roof?s edge of the Natural Sciences building and before anyone could say a word to him, stepped forward. Within minutes the Emergency Medical Services were on the scene and rushed the barely conscious student to the Mount Hope Medical Sciences Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, at about 4:10 p.m. It appeared that he did not die instantly, but had broken both arms and legs. Rishi made headlines in the local media in February of 2003, when he was awarded a plaque for the most outstanding student in the 2002 CXC Examinations by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) National Committee of Belize, in an awards ceremony held on February 13, 2003. He had achieved seven grade I?s and two grade II?s at the general proficiency level. Rishi, the first place candidate and a former student of St. John?s College Junior College, had also been awarded the regional award in the humanities at the 33rdSession of Council held in St. Kitts on December of 2002. Rishi was living in Belize until mid-2004, when he left to study on a scholarship in Trinidad. His mother, Madri Rhamdas, an attorney who once worked at the Attorney General?s Ministry in Belmopan while residing there, had left Belize since Rishi began his studies at the university last year.
