DANGRIGA, Wed. May 13, 2015–Boys & Girls U-13 football: The Dangriga Boys & Girls U-13 semifinals were played on Sunday at the Ecumenical football field. In game 1, Umadagu won over Wagierale, 2-nil, with a goal apiece from Demeal Flores and Dashawn Sutherland. Game 2 saw Wagiya defeating Pomona, 1-nil, on a goal by Senea Apolonio.

The big Finals is set for this Sunday at Ecumenical football field. The first game will be the 3rd place game at 2:00 p.m. – Wagierale vs Pomona, followed by the big championship match-up – Umadagu vs Wagiya.

All U-13 teams who took part in this tournament are invited to witness the fig Finals. Trophies and awards will be distributed by the sponsors, Dangriga Cancer Centre, after the final game this Sunday.

SCFA 1st Division Wamule Cup Week 11 results

The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) 1st Division Wamule Cup Tournament continued with Week 11 games played on Friday and Sunday, May 8 and 10, at the Carl Ramos Stadium.

In game 1 on Friday, Riverside Nets and Valley Stars played to a 2-2 draw. Jonathan Turcios (23’) and Ellis Garcia (35’) gave Valley Stars the 2-nil first half lead, but Egbert Martinez (77’) and Raymond Ramos (82’) tied it up for Riverside Nets in second half. Game 2 saw Silk Grass FC bomb Benguche FC, 6-0, with goals from Carlos Medina (2’, 40’ & 87’), Erickson Clarke (15’ & 34’) and Asad Sho (80’).

Sunday’s opener saw Green Gold and Conquerors ending in a 1-1 stalemate. Alex Cruz (21’) shook the net for Green Gold, and Collin Moody (78’) tallied for Conquerors. And in the nightcap, it was Umadagu FC with the 3-1 win over Hope Creek Pumas. Shaking the net for Umadagu were Clifton Ramos (25’) and Abraham Chavez (40’ & 60’), while Joseph Brooks (58’) scored for Hope Creek.

We move into Week 12 this weekend:

Friday, May 15
6:30 p.m. – Hope Creek United vs Wagierale FC
8:30 p.m. – New Site FC vs Hopkins FC

Sunday, May 17
3:30 p.m. – Maya King FC vs Police FC
5:30 p.m. – Green Gold FC vs Benguche FC

Primary school football

Here are the representatives from the Stann Creek District Sports Council Primary School Zone football tournaments: Representing the Independence Zone will be Independence Primary males and females. Hopkins Zone will be Silk Grass females and United Community males. Valley Zone will be Light of the Valley females and St. Matthews males. Dangriga Zone eliminations will be tomorrow, Thursday, May 14, at 9:00 a.m. at the Carl Ramos Stadium.

District finals [Regionals] will be next week Thursday, May 21, also at the Carl Ramos Stadium, commencing at 9:00 a.m. also.

NEBL

It’s do or die this Saturday night inside the Ecumenical Basketball Auditorium for the 4th spot in the NEBL playoffs. Home team Dangriga Warriors will stand strong for a big battle on Saturday night against Belize City Yellow Pages Hurricanes. The Dangriga fans and surrounding villages will be out in large numbers to make noise from first to fourth quarter for their home team, Dangriga Warriors.

The gate opens at 7:00 p.m.; tip-off time is set for 8:00 p.m. There will be huge half-time give- aways. Admission – $5.00; high school students with I.D. – $3.00. Dangriga Warriors vs Belize Yellow Pages Hurricanes.

Benguche Day Football Marathon

Next week Sunday, May 24, Commonwealth Day long weekend will be the 8th Annual Benguche Day, starting at 10:00 a.m. with all-day events and entertainment along with a Grand Open Football Marathon for teams from across the country of Belize. First prize is $1,000.00; and 2nd prize is $500.00. Registration per team is $50.00. Teams must be in uniform and be on time. The 8th Annual Benguche Day Open Football Marathon, Sunday, May 24, no work and no school the next day.
