Discussing parties

FeaturesDiscussing parties
I am thinking a little this afternoon (Saturday) about the PUP 1998, and the UDP 2008…a tale of two parties swept to victory over parties that had gone rancid, and overstayed their time. I don’t have all the goods stocked up in the pantry, but I have the sense that both of these parties – the UDP 1998, and the PUP 2008, felt that they would ganar…before they got the cold shoulder on election day.

You see why I told yu that ALL politicians hover between delusional and stark raving mad? I guess this type of mental warpage is brought on, or exacerbated when one surrounds oneself with sycophants. My, winning politicians sure do have a heap of eager friends.

On matters economic, the PUP 1998 rode to fame promising Growth Economics…privatization of our assets. Braa, who would have thought that they really meant it…to sell out, at cut rate, ALL our little assets… lock, stock, and barrel? After all, the leader was once accused of being a communist! Cuidado, a sheep in wolf’s clothing might very well be a…wolf, or, who said a leopard can’t change his spots?

On the red side of that money coin, the UDP 2008 promised…well, sorry, I’ll have to lean on the PUP to tell us what pies the UDP promised us. The PUP seh that the UDP 2008 promised to…ahem… lower the cost of living. If the sour taste of that blue crowd wasn’t still very strong in our mouths (you think ten years out of door will be enough to make we forget?), I think we’d have to ask Mr. Reneau to ask the UDP to ehm…resign.

The PUP seh tu dat the UDP promise fu put the clamps on monopoly utility companies. I’d love to wear red shoes on that one. Can’t do worse than the predecessor. Still, will the new crew do better than expected?

On the macro economic vision, the PUP gang hasn’t exposed any grand UDP schemes, so I’ll have to do the ferreting there myself. And on the rumors that the reds plan to stamp out corruption, well, I am not so fool as to expect the blue to want to discuss that topic.

Ha, the PUP 1998 said that the UDP government was impotent on crime. They did have a few glorious days. Big work was done on the image of the police, and a draconian measure (the gun law) was put in to slow down murder in the streets. From there it was all downhill, until we arrive at the 2008 UDP multi-prong solution on glossy paper. Hey Braa, this new crowd didn’t tell us nothing about those two other prongs…prevention detention, and listening in on other people shush. But, dehn noh lie. It’s not a lie, not to tell.

The PUP 1998 scandalized the red and white VAT. So we gave it to them, to dismantle. They tore it down, expanded it to hold more tax, painted it blue and white, and set it up back under a brand new name. Word is that the 2008 UDP love the new VAT better than their old one. Can’t touch this world where pigs in beds, without sheets, look so much like sneaky politicians.

Can’t have it all

Well, well, I have to join with the rest of the nation in acknowledging the great Mr. Santino Castillo on his retirement from big time cycling. Mr. Santino burst on the scene in the singing arena. He was coming along nicely, with a few choice ballads…for all time. But he sacrificed that career to promote cycling. He went overboard in the sport, sponsoring champions, and winning a few races himself. On this last score, this is a source of major disappointment to many of us not so young guys. It is bad enough that Santino is rich, but to be winning races too, well, that sure does spike up a little envy.

Anyway, he deserves all the good that comes his way, for giving his all to the youth. Respect. And we should go easy on the grudge about his personal exploits on the cycle track. That came with a price. Too much pumping on the pedals to buff up the lungs is ruin to a tenor. I am sure you heard him at the Reesi Pollard crowning. Or was it just a single bout of scratchy throat?

No pressure, Jimmy

Mrs. Barack Obama has said that she is not too worried about any fallout from the Reverend Wright’s testimonies because her husband’s candidacy is appealing to people who have turned the page, that is, white people who are no longer suspicious, or full of hate for black people.

It is very interesting to follow the presidential race in America. Afro Americans are very strong behind Mr. Obama. Youth, and educated people are very strong for Mr. Obama. Women are very strong for Mrs. Clinton. Elders (people least likely to turn pages) are very strong for Mrs. Clinton. It seems that Hispanics have been leaning Mrs. Clinton’s way too.

I notice that one of my all time favorite heroes, President Jimmy Carter, is a super delegate, and he is still on the fence. The Americans say that Brother Jimmy was their worst president. But we in the rest of the world know he was their best…by far. This piece is to tell Brother Jimmy that he doesn’t have to sweat none. Whichever horse he chooses to ride, it is okay by me.

Without the context, that is, the American reality, Mr. Obama is just flat out outstanding and probably should win. But, they have their own issues.
