This final week of regular season games will decide the top 4 teams that will go on to the semifinal playoffs in the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2023-2024 Opening Season. Defending champion, Verdes FC (28 points) and Port Layola FC (24 points) are guaranteed a spot, but there are many mathematical possibilities among the next 3 teams to determine which 2 will secure a playoff spot.
The two back matches have been finalized. Altitude FC dropped Bandits Sports last Thursday night, November 16, by a 4-0 score with goals from Luis Torres (18’ & 27’), Andres Orozco (29’) and Gabriel Ramos, Jr. (61’); and tonight at the Marion Jones Sports Complex, reports had Port Layola FC leading Bandits Sports, 3-0, at the half with goals from Shawn Young (7’), Gilroy “Bredda” Thurton (33’) and Latrell Middleton (45+3’). Another goal reportedly was scored by Port Layola, making it 4-0, but we have no name of the scorer at press time tonight.
Nevertheless, as close as it looks right now, at least one of the 2 remaining playoff spots may end up being determined based on goal difference. (See Week 13 standings below.)
