BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 7, 2022– Reports are that Dr. Marvin Manzanero, the former embattled Director of Health Services (DHS), has taken on a new directorship inside the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) following talks with the newly appointed Health Minister, Hon. Kevin Bernard. Unconfirmed reports are that the good doctor has been appointed as Director of International Cooperation inside the MOHW.
Dr. Manzanero had been sidelined by the current PUP administration after they entered office in November of 2020, shortly before he fell ill with the COVID-19 virus. Following his recovery, he found a locked office and was made aware of an impending transferal by the Government of Belize.
Recently, Health Minister Bernard, who has replaced the erstwhile Minister of Health, Hon. Michel Chebat, indicated that he had been in conversation with Dr. Manzanero, and hinted at his placement in one of the high-level posts created following the abolishment of the office of the DHS, the post previously held by Dr. Manza.
This appointment is likely currently being reviewed by the Public Services Commission, which will hand down final approval. We reached out to Dr. Manzanero for comment, but received no reply.
