Police are on the hunt for the uncle of a girl, 8, of a village in the Stann Creek District, to arrest him on charges of rape. The incident occurred about 5:00 Saturday evening in the village.

The girl and her aunt reported to Independence police that she went to her aunt’s house to get food to eat. When she went into the house, her uncle, 28, took her into his room, where he began to kiss her, after which he raped her.

When he was finished, the uncle left the house and the girl went home and told her mother. The girl was taken to the clinic by police, for examination. At the conclusion of the examination, the doctor at the clinic certified that the child had been carnally known.
