SEINE BIGHT, Stann Creek District, Mon. May 9, 2022

Kendale Flores, a 27-year-old fisherman, has been formally arrested and charged for the murder of 32-year-old Ernest Staine in Seine Bight Village, Stann Creek District that occurred on January 30, 2022.

According to police, Flores’ arrest was the result of a joint investigation which was carried out by Placencia CIB and Dangriga CIB, following which the case file containing all the evidence they had gathered was sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Cheryl Lynn Vidal, for her review and recommendations.

The murder occurred at about 12:35 a.m. at Gee Pee’s Bar in Seine Bight. Staine had been socializing with Alrick Munnings and the owner of the establishment in a shed when Flores allegedly approached them armed with a 9mm pistol and fired several shots at them. Munnings was hit first, then Staine.

Munnings was transported to the Placencia Polyclinic for medical attention and was later transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital. However, Staine died at the scene of the shooting.
