SportsFootball great, Gilroy “Coro” Usher passes

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Dec. 10, 2020– Just before 11:00 this morning, while writing our farewell for Kremandala neighbor and friend, brother Lloyd “Panades” Flowers, word was received that our former Milpros teammate and friend, Gilroy “Coro” Usher had just passed away a few minutes earlier. Coro had been confined to a hospital bed in New Jersey, USA for the past few months, breathing with the help of a tube insert in his lung along with regular doses of oxygen, following the near complete loss of lung function due to cancer.

Coro was one of Belize’s football greats, and we have told him so. A special football talent, with a heart of gold, Coro is undoubtedly a member of any Belize Football Hall of Fame.

Sensing he was on “borrowed time,” Coro treasured and cherished every minute he could spend on the phone with friends and relatives, reminiscing on precious memories, especially his glorious football days, and also enjoying conversation on current sporting events, as well as his musical interests.

There is no football being played in Belize right now. For sure, today is a day of mourning for all of us in the football family, as we also give thanks to The Most High for this precious life we shared.

Our sincere condolences to his daughter, Coretta, his brothers, especially Anthony “Telos” “Preacher Boy” Usher and Earl “Tangi” Usher, and his many other relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace, my brother, The General, Gilroy “Coro” Usher!
