Honorable Onesimo Pech, 72, who was one of the victorious candidates in the first UDP government (1984 to 1989), passed away on December 26. For most of his life Mr. Pech, a son of Guinea Grass Village, was a school teacher, serving in a number of districts, but in 1984 he made a successful bid into electoral politics, winning the seat in Orange Walk South. He served as a member of the House of Representatives, and as Deputy Speaker.
Mr. Pech was unsuccessful in election bids in Orange Walk South in 1989 and in 1998. On December 30th the National Assembly paid a special tribute to the Honorable Onesimo Pech on his passing.
