BELIZE CITY, Wed. Nov. 16, 2022
Close to midday on Wednesday, four armed Belize City men made an attempt to rob Lina Supermarket on Mahogany Street, which is located just two blocks away from a police substation.
According to police, the four armed men entered the establishment and held the owner of the store at gunpoint. While the armed holdup was taking place, however, a police mobile was passing by in the area, and one of the four men saw the officers’ vehicle and ran away from the scene.
The officers, after seeing that robber running away, realized that some type of criminal operation was likely taking place, and they went to the location of the store, where they discovered the robbery in progress. When the police arrived at the scene, they blocked off the only entrance to the store, causing the three remaining robbers to be trapped inside. The robbers then tried to hide their firearms inside the establishment.
The three men were promptly apprehended by police, who found the firearms that they had hidden at various locations inside the store. The other robber, who had run away, was apprehended shortly after.
