“Ghetto Fab,” 38, executed

General“Ghetto Fab,” 38, executed
Street figure Eric Savery Lewis, a.k.a. “Ghetto Fab,” 38, a resident of Ladyville, today was fatally shot in the head while driving his vehicle at the corner of Mex Avenue and Tanoomah Street (near George Street).

Lewis reportedly was on his way to repair a tire of another of his vehicles that was shot at early this morning. His relatives and friends frantically got him to the hospital, but he died while undergoing treatment.

A relative of Lewis told us that attacks on his life began late Friday morning when an unknown vehicle drove up East Canal and fired several shots in the direction of his relatives’ home. One of the bullets shattered the back glass of his black Ford SUV and damaged a tire. The driver then drove off.

Lewis’ sister told us that he left about a couple of hours later in his other vehicle, a beige Mazda car, and passed by the corner of Mex Avenue and Tanoomah Street. It was here that a green Toyota Corolla drove up in the opposite direction and a gunman fired a spray of bullets, one of which hit Lewis in the head.

He then collapsed onto the passenger side of his vehicle, where his only companion at the time of the second attack, a male friend, tried to take over the vehicle and drive back toward his relatives on East Canal.

Lewis’ sister then jumped into the vehicle, and the friend, who was already behind the wheel, then took off up West Canal. It was reported that Lewis’ friend, the driver, did not really know how to drive.

Lewis was rushed against the flow of traffic on West Canal, where the driver, desperately trying to save Lewis, slammed into an oncoming SUV and ended up taking off the bumper of Lewis’ car.

They then headed unto East Canal, where they slammed into another parked red vehicle. It was at this time that a police patrol intercepted them just after the King Street junction and transported him to the hospital, where he expired on the operating table.

We were told that Lewis leaves behind five young children; he reportedly was to be married next month.

His brother, Ernest Savery, was one of the three prison officers who were attacked on the Hattieville/Boom Road on October 15, 2010. They were met by a barrage of bullets which made the driver lose control of the vehicle, causing him to crash into a lamp post.

This attack ultimately led to the death of one of the prison officers by the name of Sylvino Cal, and the hospitalization of Ernest Savery. He was released from the hospital a few days before Hurricane Richard made landfall in Belize.

Eric Savery Lewis was also reportedly the subject of other execution attempts in the past that were unsuccessful.

Lewis’ family and friends are not speaking to the media.

Police have said that they have someone detained for questioning.
