BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 23, 2023

Early this afternoon, reports were confirmed that the skeletal remains of a human had been found in the Port Loyola area of Belize City.

According to information received, around 2:00 p.m. today a shallow grave, measuring a foot and a half deep, was found approximately 100 yards away from a feeder road behind the Port of Belize compound.

A green camouflage shirt and a pair of short black jeans pants had been found along with the remains, which were gathered and transported to the National Forensic Science Service morgue for further examination.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled, as the police investigation continues to determine the identity of the deceased person and the possible cause of death.

In that regard, the Police and family members are continuing their search for three Belize City men who have gone missing over the past few weeks. They are 29-year-old Christopher Sosa of Prince Street (missing since January 5), 27-year-old Akeem Augustine of Flamboyant Street (missing since December 25), and 23-year-old American national Kyle Latchman of Dean Street (last seen on December 26).
