Linsford Ferguson, 51, shot on Poinsettia

GeneralLinsford Ferguson, 51, shot on Poinsettia
The second victim of gun violence for Friday night was Linsford Ferguson, 51, a mechanic from Vernon Street who was riding home. He was shot twice while riding on Poinsettia Street, but fortunately, a concerned bystander managed to stem the bleeding and help him get transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Amandala spoke to a resident who told us that he was in his yard on Friday at around 8:30 p.m. when he heard as much as 20 shots. He said that he rushed out because his family member had just left to go the store, and he was concerned that it was she who had been shot.

He said that he saw three young men on bicycles; two were riding a bike each and another was on the handlebar of one of the bikes. He said that the one on the handlebar jumped off and fired several shots hitting Ferguson twice; one in the left side of his nose, and one in the lower back. He said that Ferguson fell to the ground and the men rode off.

The resident said that he rushed to Ferguson’s aid, helped to slow the bleeding and got him in a vehicle, which got him to the KHMH. He said that he accompanied Ferguson to the hospital and administered CPR. This resident helped him to make it to the hospital in time, where his life was saved.

Today, we spoke to Ferguson’s son, who told us that he is slowly recovering and is now able to eat solid food. When he was brought in, he could not eat or drink due to his injuries.

He told us that there is no reason why anyone should want to attack his father. He said that his father is a hard-working man who does freelance mechanic work. He said that his father is a man who does not make, or go asking for trouble.

Ferguson’s son says that the family and his father’s friends believe that it was a case of mistaken identity why he was attacked.

They are all very glad that he will make it. He is a good man, they said.
