Louisiana house explodes in the dead of night

GeneralLouisiana house explodes in the dead of night
A house on Custard Apple Street, Louisiana Area, Orange Walk Town, was blown apart early in the morning of Wednesday, February 29, leaving its owner in the hospital.

Reymundo Dominguez, 46, a welder, was about to enter his house around 12:55 a.m. when the explosion hit, blowing the walls of the 20 by 22 foot cement bungalow house apart, the roof 15 feet away and household items damaged. The blast could be heard for miles around, but no one was inside at the time.

The house is said to have been of recent construction.

The only person injured was Dominguez, who is being treated in Belize City for burns to his body.

We were unable to reach Orange Walk Fire Service to confirm, but police believe that the explosion may have been caused by a leaking open butane gas tank. Investigations by authorities continue.
