Mark Gardiner, 24, escapes death ? shot in the chest and buttock

GeneralMark Gardiner, 24, escapes death ? shot in the chest and buttock

?I realized that I had been shot because the bullet caused me to back-up into the door. I thought I had received two shots in my chest, but later learned that it was because the bullet entered on the left side of my chest and exited through the right side. Three more shots were fired as I turned to open my door and get to safety. It was at this time that the second bullet caught me in the left side of my buttocks.?

He said that after he thought the men had left the scene, he went downstairs and tried to drive himself to the hospital, but could not open the car door. The neighbors came to his aid and drove him in his car to the hospital. On the way there, he said that one of his neighbors pointed to a young man who was returning in the direction of his, Gardiner?s house.

Gardiner believes that the shooter was returning to see what was his situation, and probably, to finish him off.

Gardiner was reported to be in a very critical, but stable condition, as he was rushed into emergency. The bullet that he received in his chest broke his fourth rib on the left side and punctured his lung, which has caused him to have internal bleeding. There is presently a tube in Gardiner to remove the blood from inside him. Gardiner told Amandala that the bullet in his buttocks is still lodged there, but doctors are giving it two days to see if it will come to the surface area, where it will be easier to remove.

Gardiner alleged that someone had once paid a man $5,000 to shoot him, and had given him a one-minute camera to take a picture of him dead in a hole.

Gardiner believes that the shooting is in relation to a shooting that occurred at M.C.C grounds on April 14, 2003, while he was at a high school football game. Police say he shot Greg Batty, of a Mahogany street address. Gardiner says that the charge laid on him was manslaughter, and he still has the case pending.
