SportsMayors Cup quarterfinals, 2 games played, 2 more this Friday

DANGRIGA, Mon. July 3, 2017–The Dangriga Mayor’s Cup Tournament 2017 had knockout quarterfinal playoffs scheduled for the past weekend on Friday, June 30, and Sunday, July 2, at the Carl Ramos Stadium; but only the Friday night games were played, as the Sunday games had to be called off due to weather conditions.

In the opener on Friday night, DYFA dropped Wagiya, 3-2, with a goal apiece from Eugene Martinez (22’), Davis Marshall (78’) and Jonard Castillo (85’); while Wagiya got a goal each from Krisean Lopez (70’) and Horace Avila (90’). And in the nightcap, it was Coast Guard, 2-1, over New Site Tire Depot. Brian Martinez (9’) and Kyle Budna (79’) shook the net for Coast Guard, while Shawn Caliz (40’) got the lone goal for New Site.

DYFA and Coast Guard are therefore through to the semifinals, and now await the winners of the next two quarterfinals, which will take place this Friday.
