Minister giving preference to Non-Belizean

HeadlineMinister giving preference to Non-Belizean

A well-known roots Belizean businessman who has given great service to his country, told us that he is being denied a small parcel of land which he applied for in a village, and for which he had received approval from both the chairman of the particular village, and (initially) the government minister in the area. He said he has learned that the minister has decided to bestow “favors” on a foreigner who is one of that minister’s sidekicks.

The Belizean businessman is, of course, very disappointed by the bad turn from the minister. He said the minister told him that maybe he can identify another parcel. The Belizean businessman says he has already invested in the parcel; that it suits his purpose, and he can’t see why the minister is choosing a foreigner over him.

We expect the minister to do the right thing and give the “break” to the home-born.
