BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 13, 2022

On Saturday, June 11, officials from the Miss Universe Belize team revealed the names and photos of the seven contestants that will be vying for the title at the upcoming pageant this year.

The women competing for this year’s title are 20-year-old Grace Brown of San Pedro Town, 25-year-old Ashley Lightburn of Belize City, 27-year-old Samantha Singh of Placencia Town, 22-year-old Sigourney Usher of San Ignacio Town, 27-year-old Kenia Tejada of Spanish Lookout, 27-year-old Alina Scott from Cayo, and 19-year-old Kaira Nuñez from Orange Walk.

The winner of the pageant, the date of which has yet to be announced, will go on to represent the country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant.

The announcement of candidates was made just a few days after the Miss Universe Belize Committee members were revealed. The sixteen-person committee includes director Romeo Escobar along with former Miss Belize winners Ava Lovell Belisle, Jenelli Frazer, and Destinee Arnold; and George Perez, Dwayne Moody, Angel Espat, Marconi Leal, Mohit Budhrani, Karen Vernon, Janel Arnold, Hyacinth Cuellar, Evalee Skeen Engleton, Tracie Jenkins, Keisha Usher, and Marie Arnold Mcdowell.

San Pedro native, Iris Salguero, is the current Miss Universe Belize.
