DANGRIGA, Stann Creek District, Mon. July 29, 2019– The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) hosted football games on Friday night – Smart U-13 Mundialito; and on Sunday afternoon, the Dangriga Mayor’s Cup Finals at the Carl Ramos Stadium, followed by the awards ceremony.

SCFA Smart U-13 Mundialito

Three games were played on Friday night in Week 4 of the SCFA Smart U-13 Mundialito.

In game 1, Pomona Warriors defeated Silk Grass SG Ballers, 4-1, with 2 goals from Harrison Tasher, Jr. and 1 apiece from Tyronel Castillo, Jr. and Andre Chavez; while Breyden Olivas got the only goal for Silk Grass.

Game 2 saw New Site beating Benguche, 4-2, with 2 goals from Deron Fernandez and 1 each from Kenneth Cacho and Tyler Arana; while Ashm Bernardez and Jayden Lewis scored for Benguche.

And in game 3, it was Hopkins Bay Esanigu, 3-1, over Foreshore Empire. Netting 1 apiece for Hopkins were Christopher Palacio, Russell Casimiro and Dylon Roches; while Jazzic Rivas got the goal for Foreshore.

Upcoming Week 5 Mundialito schedule:
Saturday, August 3, starting at 2:00 p.m.
Game 1 – Foreshore Empire vs Harlem (Montise)
Game 2 – New Site vs Silk Grass SG Ballers
Game 3 – Benguche vs South Side Warriors
Game 4 – Hopkins Bay Esanigu vs Pomona Warriors

Dangriga Mayor’s Cup Finals

The Mayor’s Cup Finals on Sunday evening started with the third place game, followed by the championship final and then the awards ceremony.

The game for Third Prize ended with Foreshore Empire and Silk Grass SG Ballers tied, 2-2.  Silk Grass took the lead twice, through Latrelle Middleton (45’) and Erickson Clark (81’); but each time Foreshore came back to equalize, through Ermito Arana (68’) and then Carlos Lino (83’). In the penalty shootout that followed, Foreshore Empire won, 7 to 6. Foreshore Empire therefore received the Third Place award.

Next was the big championship final, and it was undefeated Young Generals grabbing the 4-1 win over New Site Tire Depot. Scoring 1 apiece for Young Generals were Darnae Garcia (6’), Jaynie Nunez (45’), Brandon Cacho (75’) and Hasan Lucas (85’); while New Site’s only goal was by Jonard Castillo (11’).

Young Generals (YG) are the 2019 Mayor’s Cup Champions. Respect to them!!!

Individual Awards & Prizes issued were:  Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Myrick Marshall, Jr. (Young Generals); Most Goals Scored (Regular Season) – Leonard Valdez (Pomona Impacts); Most Goals Scored (Playoffs) – Andres Makin, Jr. (Young Generals); Best Defence – Kaheem Lino (Young Generals); Best Midfielder – Carlton Thomas (Young Generals); Best  Coach – Abraham Chavez (Young Generals); Best Manager – Denrick Nunez (Foreshore Empire); Fair Play Team – Iderie (DYS); Rookie of the Year – Kevin Higinio (Delille Jaguars); Best Goalkeeper – Wilfred Lopez (Young Generals); Third Prize $1,500.00 + One Team Trophy & 25 Medals – Foreshore Empire; Second Prize $3,000.00 + Team Trophy & 25 Medals – New Site Tire Depot; First Prize $6,000.00 + Team Trophy & 25 Medals – Young Generals.
