Narco plane lands near Monkey River

GeneralNarco plane lands near Monkey River

MONKEY RIVER, Toledo District, Fri. June 25, 2021– At about 1:00 o’clock on Friday morning, the Police Department identified an unauthorized airplane in Belize’s airspace that was believed to have originated from South America. As a result, members of the department and Belize Defence Force soldiers were deployed to the nearby area to cover all the most probable landing zones.

About 30 minutes later, the aircraft was off of the authorities’ radar. Their intel last spotted the craft around Riversdale. Nearby troops canvassed the area as well as the surrounding areas, but found nothing. It was not until some time later, following an aerial scan of the area, that the police found the suspected drug plane in Monkey River Village. To the police’s surprise, the pilot of the drug operation had landed the plane by the nearby lagoon, skillfully maneuvering through the mangroves.

The police and BDF joint forces managed to get their troops into the area following the scan. When they searched the airplane, the law enforcement team could not find any of the suspected drugs that they believe the plane was carrying. The police believe the contents of the aircraft had already been unloaded and transported away via boat.

Recently, another narco plane had reportedly crash-landed in the waters surrounding the coast of Placencia and, in a similar fashion, its contents were not found.
