Orange Walk police reported that on Tuesday evening, August 8, sometime around 7:30, Danielle Salazar sent her daughter to a shop across the street from her home, but almost immediately was alerted by neighbors that a man was taking a child that looked like her daughter on a bicycle.
Salazar said that when she looked out of her door, to her surprise, she saw a Hispanic man taking her daughter on the crossbar of his bicycle. In fright, she screamed loudly at the man to ?take [her] daughter off the bike.? He quickly complied, but not before Salazar had gotten a very good look at him.
Police said that they later arrested Gonzalez after Salazar identified him as the abductor.
Gonzalez, a Guatemalan of Sarstoon Street in Orange Walk Town, appeared in the Orange Walk Magistrate?s Court today, where he was charged with abduction and aggravated assault.
He was not offered bail and was therefore remanded to the Hattieville Prison until Wednesday, September 13, when he is scheduled to reappear in court.
