BELIZE CITY, Wed. June 29, 2022
After a postponement the previous week due to some COVID-19 positive tests, the knockout semifinals of the National Sports Council (NSC) Competition for Recreation and Wellness Basketball Tournament 2022 were held on Friday night, June 24, at the Mexico Center court of the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
In the scheduled semifinal opener on Friday night, Belize City Council “Dragons” won by default (20-0) over Customs & Excise Department. (This is quite uncommon in a semifinal, but we haven’t received any explanation.)
The nightcap semifinal saw National Sports Council “Valley” coming away with the 64-51 victory over Digi. top scorer for NSC “Valley” was Jarret Davis with 20 points. (Yes, that is the same Jarret Davis of football fame.) Digi was led by Kyle Young with 18 points.
The Finals are set for this coming Friday night, July 1, and will be preceded by an Open category game from the on-going Belize City branch of the National Basketball Tournament 2022 being coordinated by the National Sports Council.
