The semifinal playoffs begin tonight in the Belize City Over-35 football tournament with #1 seed Kulture facing #4 seed City Stars. Noteworthy is the fact that Kulture will be without the services of the tournament’s leading striker, Charlie Slusher, who has been suspended from the tournament as a result of gross misconduct following his ejection from the last game of the regular season on Monday last, February 15.
A press release received today from the Over-35 football competition coordinator Marvin Ottley stated that, “Based on the referee report and what have been heard and seen, Mr. Charlie Slusher was totally out of order when he attacked referee Steven Myles and hit him twice after he received a red card.….,” and “Based on the report from the referee and what was seen and heard, Mr. Slusher is suspended from playing any Over 35 competition for two years….”
Tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:00 p.m. at the MCC Grounds, the other semifinal features #2 seed Ebony Lake vs #3 seed Plaza.
The semifinals are 2-game series, and Game 2 will be next week.
