ORANGE WALK TOWN, Tue. Sept. 12, 2017–The Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) 1st Division Amateur Opening Season has completed its best-of-two games semi-finals series at the Louisiana Field over the past week.

Round 1 of the semi-finals took place on Wednesday and Thursday, September 6 and 7; and Round 2 games were held on Sunday, September 10.
Round 1 results
In Round 1 on Wednesday, it was Sinbad FC with the 3-2 victory over Progresso United FC. Shaking the net for Sinbad were Jason Williams (20’ & 35’) and Jevon Ico (53’); while Progresso got one goal from Alex Diaz (45’) along with an auto-goal by Sinbad’s Alejandro Carrillo (80’ auto goal).
In Thursday’s Round 1 encounter, Trinidad FC and Progresso FC played to a 2-2 draw. Both Trinidad goals were by Rubini Carrillo (21’ & 65’); while Progresso FC got a goal each from Rafael Novelo (23’) and Raheem Eagan (43’).

Round 2 results
Game 1 of the Round 2 semifinals on Sunday, September 10, saw Progresso FC with the 2-0 win over Trinidad FC, with a goal apiece from Clemente Castro (24’) and Ian Chi (29’). And in game 2 on the same day, it was a 1-1 stalemate between Sinbad FC and Progresso United FC. Jason Williams (48’) gave Sinbad FC the lead, but Rigel Correa (83’) equalized for Progresso United.

Final score
Progresso FC – draw 2-2 first game; won 2-0 second game. Progresso FC proceeds to the finals.
Sinbad FC – won 3-2 first game; draw 1-1 second game. Sinbad FC proceeds to the finals.

The Finals
The Finals will be a two-game series between Progresso FC and Sinbad FC for 1st and 2nd place. Game 1 will be on Sunday, September 17, at Louisiana Football Field; and game 2 will be Sunday, September 24. Third place, between Progresso United FC and Trinidad FC, will also be decided by a two-game series, to be played on the same dates.
