Police catch runaway shooters

GeneralPolice catch runaway shooters

BELIZE CITY, Wed. Oct. 13, 2021
Police now have in custody two of the men who engaged in a shootout with police near Central American Boulevard after police began pursuing the men’s vehicle following a drive-by shooting incident in which the men were allegedly involved. Another of the men who were in that vehicle is under police observation. Surveillance footage that was leaked to the public shows the three suspects (who are believed to have fired shots at Rudolph Serrano and Kenyon Cherrington while the two men were in a yard on Fabers Road Extension) exiting their rented Dodge van and running, in an attempt to evade custody, as they traded gunfire with police officers who were nearby.

One of those three suspects, who was seriously wounded during the shootout with the police officers, sought medical treatment later that day at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He was later identified as 21-year-old Kiron Williams, who is ostensibly the person who rented the getaway van. Apparently, Williams sustained severe gunshot injuries, and as a result, he was admitted into a ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and is reportedly in a critical but stable condition. He remains under police guard until charges are levied upon him.

The other two suspects are a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old minor who have since been apprehended. The victims have not been cooperative with the Police Department, which is impeding the police’s efforts to charge all of the suspects; however, police do believe they have substantial evidence to bring charges against Williams and one of his accomplices. Police personnel have evidence that places one of William’s accomplices at the crime scene and that identifies him as the suspect who fired shots at the police.
