Portals opened for pre-registration for vaccines

HighlightsPortals opened for pre-registration for vaccines

BELIZE CITY, Tues. Mar. 2, 2021– The Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Michel Chebat, has announced that a registration portal has been opened so that persons in the vaccination priority groups can begin entering their data and requests for inoculation. Minister Chebat shared that as a part of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, the Ministry will also be putting out calls through the media to the members of the groups whose time for vaccination has come.

“Also on our website, we’re gonna have pre-registration forms, so that people can start as of now to start filling in the form, so that that data can be entered into the BHI system so when they get here it’s just to confirm and then move on to vaccination,”  Minister Chebat explained.

He outlined that this will be the process undertaken for all five phases of our inoculation program. As mentioned, healthcare workers are being vaccinated during the first phase of the program, and while Minister Chebat shared that the Ministry cannot force any individual to take the vaccine, he said that he would hope that they would lead by example.

“Well, we can’t force anybody to take the vaccine, but we would hope that especially our healthcare workers who have seen the devastation of this virus will understand the importance of getting vaccinated,” Minister Chebat said.

The vaccination program will be executed in five phases, and while no definite end date is in sight, the Minister shared that they are hoping to complete the five phases by the 3rd quarter of this year. This, of course, will depend on when the vaccines arrive from the COVAX facility.
