Postal worker charged for drug possession

GeneralPostal worker charged for drug possession

COROZAL, Fri. Oct. 2, 2020– A postal officer identified as Willodel Neal, 25, has been charged for possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply after he was busted by police on Friday, October 2, 2020, with contraband liquor and 171.6 grams of cannabis.

Police officers were tipped off about the illicit cargo, and a search was conducted on a white postal van bearing government plates, parked in the Magistrate’s Court parking lot in Corozal Town, where the post office is also located.

In the front compartment of the van, officers found nine bottles of assorted liquor that had not been processed by the Customs Department.  A search of the cargo section of the van also revealed a transparent bag near a spare tire that contained the aforementioned cannabis.

Neal told the officers that the alcohol was his property, as he intended to stock up on “spirits” for his birthday celebration in December, but he denied any knowledge of the drugs.  The un-Customed liquor was handed over to the Customs Department, and it is expected that Neal will be fined.

Willodel Neal has been working with the postal service for a little over four years.
