Ranchito construction worker murdered at home

GeneralRanchito construction worker murdered at home

RANCHITO, Corozal District, Wed. Nov. 25, 2020– Rigoberto Rosado, 40, a construction worker of Ranchito Village, Corozal District, met his death in the unlikeliest of places at the break of dawn on the morning of Tuesday, November 24.

He was ambushed and was shot multiple times inside his room sometime after 4:00 a.m., just as he was about to start his day by preparing food for his lunch break at work.

His older brother, Jaime Rosado, is surprised at the execution. “Minutes before 4:00 a.m., I heard the dogs barking, but I thought it was my younger brother that was preparing his lunch, because he works at Cerros and he always prepares his food and takes lunch,” said the grieving brother.

“I thought it was that, because the dogs always bark; I come out, and nothing is wrong. But this time, it was different. Six shots were fired; four caught him and he couldn’t survive the operation and he died,” the brother went on to explain.

The gunman rode away on a bicycle, but not before the family got a good look at him and recognized him as a resident of the village.

“My brother and my nephew recognised him and they followed him, but couldn’t catch up to him. They called him out by his name and he turned around. But he escaped”, Jaime Rosado said.

Rigoberto Rosado reportedly was lamenting that he did not want to die as he was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he passed away two hours later, at around 6:00 a.m.

He had been shot at least 4 times. His brother believes that it may have been a case of mistaken identity: “Maybe they confused him with someone else, but as I know, he doesn’t have enemies, he doesn’t get in fights, and he is a calm person”, said the bereaved brother, Jaime Rosado.
