On Saturday, February 11, the launch of the Reef Recording Studio, which was established by the Sustainable Tourism Project in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Belize Tourism Board, took place in Belize City.

This studio reportedly has state-of-the-art recording equipment intended to cater to aspiring Belizean musicians and entertainers.

The Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Hon. Anthony Mahler, said that he recognizes just how important is the role that music and culture play in the tourism industry and confirmed that the launch of the studio is just the start. The process of setting up studios in Orange Walk, in the west, and even down south is reportedly already underway. The aim, he said, is to make the music produced by Belizean artists rival any international music out there in quality, while ensuring that the production facilities are affordable and accessible to every talented musician.

Minister of Education, Hon. Francis Fonseca describes the studio as a tangible support to musicians who have for so long called attention to the fact that they lacked a quality recording studio.
