Santa Elena Sports Complex inauguration this Sunday

SportsSanta Elena Sports Complex inauguration this Sunday

BELMOPAN, Wed. Nov. 23, 2016–The Government of Belize, through the Belize Infrastructure Limited, announces the inauguration of the Santa Elena Sports Complex. Santa Elena has seen much advancement in infrastructure over the past several years, and while many of us are able to see the visible road works approaching the town, few are aware of the 13.42 acre sporting facility renovations – its new main entrance now on Bishop Street – that have been underway from last year, with many new enhancements.

The Santa Elena Sports Complex is now the third and final facility to be delivered to the Twin Towns by the Government of Belize under the execution of Belize Infrastructure Limited.

The largest of the three, this facility is now home to a newly lit recreational football pitch surrounded by a concrete walking track; a covered basketball facility with lighting and bleachers; and a competition field complete with prefabricated concrete bleachers, public restrooms, lockers, new lighting, fencing, parking, ticketing and concession space.

This weekend, Santa Elena will be able to celebrate its latest infrastructure addition, an amenity that can be used for both dedicated competition and leisure recreation to enhance sporting throughout the community. The Inauguration event takes place this Sunday, hosted by the Area Representative, with an inaugural game to immediately follow, Sunday, November 26, at 2:30 pm: BVDC Verdes vs Belmopan Bandits

(Sports Ed. Note: We have been assured by PLB officials that the Santa Elena field is natural grass, and it has the FIFA regulation size. So, it should be a dandy on Sunday- Verdes vs Bandits.)
