Skyler had been hit after she, her uncle and her stepbrother were headed home after a softball game that day, leaving their mother a short distance behind.

Amandala today spoke with Skyler?s mother, Floreth Reque?a, 24, who said that she must thank the public for assisting her, and the many people who prayed. She said that she could have been the one in Patricia Lanza?s situation, mourning for her son, Javan Mahler, 11, who was kicked by a horse on October 11, or the mother of Leeton Galvez, 4, who also died after fighting injuries sustained from a traffic accident.

She said that feels the pain of the mothers. She said that she thanks the pubic for assisting her with her final CATSCAN, which should have been taken two weeks after Skyler was hospitalized, but that she did not even need it. She said that she, however, gave it to someone whom she thought needed it, Leeton Galvez.

Floreth said that she forgives the driver of the vehicle that knocked down her daughter because of the progression in health that her daughter has made, but would just want to stare the person in the face and ask him how he could have done it, even after she got on Channel 7?s Newscast and begged him to assist or even just apologize.

Skyler told the newspaper that she is happy to be home. She remembers a lot and can even spell her name, but has a difficulty remembering some things.

Floreth said that they will be receiving the results of the second CAT scan, which had been performed in Mexico, on September 6, at which time they will know that the next move will be. She said that she will not be sending Skyler to school yet, but hopes to do so soon.

Floreth told the newspaper that she will be coming down to Belize City today to comfort Patricia in her time of mourning, as the funeral for Javan was today.
