Speaker Peyrefitte uses Attorney General’s own law firm to sue her

BELIZE CITY, Fri. Oct. 21, 2016–House Speaker Michael Peyrefitte is making an effort to discredit the Auditor General, Dorothy Bradley, and possibly block or delay the investigations by the Senate Select Committee, which is scheduled to commence its hearings on November 9,

In a special audit, done by the Auditor General, into the Passport, Visa and Nationality Departments for the period 2011-2013, Peyrefitte was named.

According to the audit, he was not authorized to sign as a recommender on a passport issued to William Lindo.

On Thursday, he filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General, Minister Senator Vanessa Retreage, and the Auditor General, Dorothy Bradley.

He wants the court to rule against the findings of the Auditor General’s Report. Furthermore, he wants an injunction to block Retreage and Bradley or any persons acting on their behalf in reference to the report.

This would potentially paralyze the investigation of the Senate Special Select Committee, appointed to investigate the findings of the Auditor General’s special report until his lawsuit is settled.

Interestingly, Peyrefitte’s suit was filed by none other than the law firm of Reyes Retreage, which is the personal law firm of the Attorney General, Vanessa Retreage.

Apparently, it seems Retreage’s own law office was readily prepared to challenge her in her capacity as Attorney General.

According to credible sources, there are efforts being made to have Peyrefitte represented instead by the law offices of Marilyn Williams. However, at this time, he is still represented by the law firm of Reyes Retreage.
