SportsSteering Council ratifies Statutes of Belize Football Players Association

DANGRIGA, Stann Creek District, Wed. Nov. 4, 2020– On Saturday, August 8, 2020, a number of elite players and club owners met in Belmopan to give reality to an organization, the Belize Football Players Association (BFPA) that will eventually close the gap that exists within association football relating to the protection of the football development interests of the most critical stakeholders – football clubs and footballers.

The meeting concluded with the establishment of a Steering Council tasked with developing statutes using the European Club Association statutes as a model.

The members of the Steering Council are: Kenneth Budna, Idania Ramirez, Adrian Vanegas, Samuel Icaal, Idemuei Moss, Dalton Eiley, Tyrone Pandy, Khalil Velasquez, Andres Makin Jr., Marco Novelo, Benito Juarez and Brenford Middleton. Idemuei Moss and Kenneth Budna were given a mandate to draft the BFPA Statutes.

After a series of reviews of draft statutes, the BFPA Steering Council met in Belmopan on Saturday, October 31, 2020 to ratify the BFPA Statutes.

The BFPA consists of nine branches comprised of 20 football clubs across the length and breadth of Belize, and is poised to hold its first Congress in accordance with its statutes on a date to be set by its interim executive body.

The organizational roadmap that has been charted includes affiliation with both the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) and the National Sports Council (NSC), and the sustainment of a collaborative relationship among member clubs and footballers to produce elite clubs and players for the greater footballing glory of Belize.

Footballing entities with and without legal existence that are invested in development of their club/teams and players are invited to contact the BFPA Executive Secretary for more information about the organization at [email protected] or phone 632 9353.
