SAN PEDRO TOWN, Ambergris Caye, Sat. Aug. 24, 2024

The Terror Squad of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye won the 2024 National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC), 5-1, over EZ Griga Conquerors in Game 2 of the Finals at the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday night, August 24.

MVP Keyden Shay Bowen’s brace (10’ and 37’), and goals from Victor Morales (3’), Devon Makin (45+2’) and Kenroy Wagner (71’) secured the Terror Squad’s 5-1 championship victory. Midfielders Akeem Locke, Englebert Samuels, Henry Bejerano and Troy Williams pressed for more goals, and Wilmer Recinos and Rayn Gonzalez came off the bench to join the fray. The visitors’ veteran defenders Jacinto Bermudez and Gilbert Swazo had their work cut out, as they tried to contain the assault, with Tyrique Castillo and Tyrone Hernandez’s help, but they could not stop Terror Squad’s bombardment of goalkeeper Eddy Perez.

Aaron Estero and Daijon Daniels led Griga’s counterattack, with the help of Ernesto Flores, Norman Sutherland, and Erwin Flores at midfield. A power outage interrupted play for half an hour, but only Sutherland scored a late penalty past Best Goalkeeper Isaul Coba.

FFB president Sergio Chuc presented the team trophies and individual medals to the champions and 2nd place winners in the awards ceremony after the final.

Individual Awards: Most Valuable Player – Keyden Shay Bowen (Terror Squad); Most Goals (Golden Boot) – Jaheim Mena (Legends FC); Best Goalkeeper – Isaul Coba (Terror Squad).
