The history of Antonio Soberanis is very interesting

LettersThe history of Antonio Soberanis is very interesting

Dear Editor,
I was moved by the designation of certain important areas of our country in honor of many of our past “heroes,” many of whom I knew. I don’t recall whether Herman Jex and Bollo Gardner were mentioned.

Most important is the acknowledgment of Antonio Soberanis who protested and organized masses against the colonial system, and against the 1949 devaluation of the then “British Honduras” dollar.

Please review the history of Soberanis in the Belizean Studies of January 1977, published by BISRA (Belize Institute of Social Research and Action), St. John’s College.

I hope you find the 9-page history on Antonio Soberanis interesting enough to share with the many readers of your valuable newspaper, the Amandala.

Respectfully,
Adolphus A. Rosales
