There are those buses in which the rubber floor covering is worn through and pulled up. Normally it is about an inch thick so that you can easily stub your toe, or twist your ankle on the edge. Some aisle floors are so worn through that the rubber is missing and you can see the ground. There is a bus where the angle between the riser and the step is rusted completely through.

This past week I had the ?pleasure? of riding on the same bus twice (or maybe it wasn?t the same one as the brakes didn?t squeal). It may be the only bus where entertainment is provided to help you while away the time as you wait. A family of cockroaches, of many sizes and ages, busily runs up and down the window frames in their interpretation of some tropical modern dance. Or perhaps they are looking for some nice handbag or backpack to crawl into so they can flee the scene!

Let me say again that this is not a reflection on the staff ? office, drivers and conductors, who seem to be doing the best they can with what they are given to work with. Let?s just say that if buses were restaurants, Public Health would have shut them down long ago.
