U-19 billiards team participated in tournaments in Guatemala

BELMOPAN, Thurs.  Aug. 29, 2019– The Belize Billiards Sports Federation (BBSF) is happy to share that 5 players (U-19) participated in 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and 10-Ball billiards tournaments from August 22 to August 24 at the Estadio Nacional Doroteo, Guamuch Flores Stadium in Guatemala City, after being invited by the National Billiards Association of Guatemala. The 5 players who represented the Jewel were: Immer Lima, Raul Montejo, Jr., Ailton Linarez, Elvis Yam and Iverson Monima. They were selected after ranking Top 5 in a U-19 8-Ball Tournament the BBSF held in Belmopan in May of 2019 to go up in individual shoot-out against Guatemala’s top 5 players.

It must be noted that this is the first time the players played the game of 10-Ball; they have played 9-Ball from time to time, and have been playing 8-Ball the most.

The BBSF is proud of all the players. All players were able to win some games and competed, but lost some close games. However, from the Belize team games, our top shooters were: in 8-Ball – Ailton Linarez; in 9-Ball – Raul Montejo, Jr.; and in 10-Ball – Immer Lima; and ranking 3rd overall in the 10-player tournament was Immer Lima.

We must say that all the Belize U-19 players were from the Corozal District, as they have been dominating the sport of billiards at this level and category.

Mr. Isaias Lima, Special Advisor of the BBSF (and father of Immer Lima), led the delegation to Guatemala.

We are expecting a return visit of the U-19 team from Guatemala to play in Belize in the future.
