US attorney asks GoB to reject MDL Investment development

LettersUS attorney asks GoB to reject MDL Investment development

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister
Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
Hon. Orlando Habet, Minister of Environment
CEO Kenrick Williams, CEO of the Ministry of Environment
Anthony Mai — Chief Environmental Officer, Department of Environment

Sirs:

I respectfully write to strongly oppose the above proposed development which would entail the construction of buildings ‘over-the-water’ directly on Big Flat. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Belize and fish the Turneffe flats. They are an irreplaceable treasure. Like all who come to Belize for this fishing, I contributed substantially to the economy and employment. It is not in the interest of Belize to destroy a section of the flats only so that one developer can prosper. People travel from all over the world for this priceless resource. Please do not approve the proposed development.

Thank you for considering my comments.
