BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 11, 2019– Two games were played on Saturday, February 9, and 4 on Sunday, February 10, in Week 2 of the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) 2018-2019 Closing Season.

On Saturday at the M.A. Stadium in Independence, it was 1-1 between Rumberas and Altitude.  Pauline Linarez (27’) put Altitude in front, but Quiniah Caliz (35’) equalized for Rumberas.  Meanwhile at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga, Belmopan’s Jewel Fury shut out Dangriga Pumas, 5-0, with goals from Jayda Brown (6’ & 88’), Suswani Martinez (54’ & 80’) and Fatima Romero (54’).

On Sunday, two Cayo based teams clashed at the Norman Broaster Stadium, and it was the more experienced Verdes Rebels drilling Royal Maya Hill, 9-0, with goals from Kimberly Perez (12’), Jamilet Alagron (29’, 42’, 55’, 75’, 78’ & 86’), Maricela Hernandez (69’) and Florine Vasquez (74’).  A little later at the Santa Elena Sporting Complex, the visiting Ladies Freedom Fighters from Toledo won, 2-0, over Santa Elena Strikers, with a goal each from Jaylee Lambey (7’) and Lovette Sabal (73’). Then, up north at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk, home standing Gladiators turned back the San Pedro Invaders, 8-1, with goals from Kaite Jones (15’, 25’, 55’, 64’ & 87’), Nailiny Manzanero (22’), Miriam Villamil (70’) and Sheyla Pena (90’); with San Pedro’s only goal coming from Allyson Rubio (67’). Meanwhile, further north at the Ricalde Stadium in Corozal, it was Black Orchid from Belize City, 7-0, over Corozal Scorpions, with goals coming from Shanell Gentle (10’), Jinnelle Pott (15’ & 82’), Sherean Tracey (34’), Sarah Arzu (52’), Aaliyah Herbert (62’) and Shardee Lozano (64’).
