The Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) 1st Division Amateur Tournament 2021-2022 Closing Season continued over the weekend with Week 5 games at the Louisiana Football Field on Saturday evening, April 30, and Sunday all day, May 1. Below are the results:
Saturday, April 30
In the opener at 7:00 p.m., Yo Creek La Ceiba FC came from behind to defeat Guinea Grass FC, 3-1, with a goal each from Allen Castillo (49’), Zamir Bonilla (86’) and Edimir Carrillo(87’); after Zender Ramirez (21’) had given Guinea Grass the early lead.
It was the same score in the nightcap, but in this one Louisiana FC led all the way, as they dropped Trial Farm Jaguars FC, 3-1, with a goal apiece from Leonardo Nob (22’), Carlos Nob (30’) and Marin Nob (46’). Trial Farm avoided the shutout with a late goal from Ismael Guerra (88’).
Sunday, May 1
Five games were on the schedule for Sunday, and in game 1 at 9:00 a.m. it was San Antonio FC rolling over Carmelita FC, 5-0, with goals from Omar Duran (14’), Liam Reyes (40’), Augustine Mendez (59’) and Axel Jones (72’ & 82’).
Game 2 was another shutout, as Young Ballers FC crushed Cave Tubing FC, 4-0, with 3 goals from Jesse August (20’, 45’ & 59’) along with an own goal by Cave Tubing’s Jordi Castillo (85’ OG).
In game 3 at 1:00 p.m., San Jose Pumas FC and Palmar FC played to a 1-1 draw. Victor Novelo (25’) put Pumas in front, but Juan Diaz (41’) equalized before the half for Palmar.
Game 4 was a real blow-out, as Caribbean Rum Boyz FC unleashed an 8-0 shellacking on San Fran FC. Sharing the scoring for the Rum Boyz were Raheem Eagan (2’ & 38’), Camilo Sanchez (3’, 14’ & 42’), Nazim Aldana (19’) and Andir Chi (27’ & 43’).
And in game 5 at 5:00 p.m., Guinea Grass Lazio FC drew, 2-2, with Galacticos FC. Guinea Grass grabbed an early 2-nil lead with goals from Aiken Aguilar (8’) and Nadit Narvallez (9’), but Galacticos came roaring back with goals from Jeffrey Herrera (20’) and Luis Witz (26’) to secure the 2-2 draw.
