Good day to all my cricket enthusiasts! Hope all is well with you.
Under the auspices of the Belize National Cricket Association, the Barry Bowen/Harrison Parks 2023 competition continued over weekend with a very tearful match for BDF as they were defeated by the very upstart Wicked 11.
Wicked 11 went in first and, because of the strong bowling performance of Glenroy Reynolds by taking 9 wickets, the Wicked 11 boys batted only 96, with Ordel Orlin Cassasola scoring 31.
After a lunch break and some socializing, BDF took to bat with courage that they will win. All those hopes were dashed away when the Wicked 11 captain Brandon Lewis (the D7 BULLDOZER) showed that his team will not go down without a fight. He started to take wickets early, and after taking 4 wickets, BDF fell short by only reaching 74. Tayshawn Moses took 4 wickets too. This pushed Wicked 11 to winning the Level One championship.
That game brought out many tears of joy and pain. I will not say who cried for what.
Congratulations, Wicked 11, for your brilliant performance. You guys worked hard for reaching there. To BDF, proud of you. You should be proud to place SUB CHAMPIONS.
Well, we are off to St. Paul’s Bank where it’s Tropical Disturbance vs St. Paul’s Strikers. Another two powerful teams in Level Two of the competition. This is a first game in a best-of-three match series.
Tropical Disturbance took to bat first, and at fall of the last wicket scoring 137. I’m of the opinion that they were not happy for that score, knowing their opponents. Howell Gillett scored 26 of that. Maleek Sutherland and Brian Cassasola, Jr. took 3 wickets each.
It’s time to see the performance of Howell Gillett, who took 3 wickets, and tried all his efforts; but St. Paul’s Strikers defeated them by only losing 3 wickets before scoring 141. 16-year-old Lloyd Cassasola, who was named Man of the Match, scored 32, followed by Brian Cassasola, Jr. who scored 32 also.
That’s all for now, folks. If weather permits, it will be St. Paul’s Strikers vs Tropical Disturbance for the second match. Come out and enjoy this one on Sunday at Biscayne! A must win for Tropical Disturbance!
Have a blessed weekend. Bye Bye! RESPECT!
