For the third time this year, businesswoman Xiao Hua Zhu, 39, who operates Jenny’s Shop at #5763 Meighan Avenue in Kings Park, has been subjected to the indignity of being robbed in her own home.
The latest attack came around closing time on Friday night, December 5. At 9:00 Zhu was preparing to close for the night when two dark-skinned men, one armed with a silver handgun, approached.
The armed robber pointed the gun at Zhu, and then punched her so that she fell to the floor. His accomplice pulled the store’s shutters down, went behind the counter and began collecting items, which he put inside a black bag which he carried, then left for her bedroom.
We understand that the robbers repeatedly punched the helpless shopkeeper, “busting up” her face and leaving it a mess. They kept demanding money even when it was apparent they had gotten all they could from the establishment and Zhu’s house.
The men escaped after getting the keys for the back door of the establishment from Zhu.
A black Acer laptop computer, 2 cell phones, a number of BTL and Smart phone cards and $1,500 were stolen.
Police had arrested and charged Delroy Chaplin in June for twice breaking into Zhu’s establishment and home and robbing her of similar items. They continue to investigate this incident.
